Enough: The Architecture of Degrowth at Oslo Architecture Triennale

Around the world campaigners, cities, and governments are declaring a state of emergency in response to accelerating global warming. Meanwhile systemic inequality continues to entrench deep divides between those who have far too little, and those who have far too much. In this unprecedented moment, an urgent question is cast into relief: how should architecture respond to a time of climate emergency and social division?

Interrobang are curating ‘The Library’ as part of the Oslo Architecture Triennale. As part of this offering they asked us to curate a section of the materials focussed section ‘IT’.  We translated the questions asked by IT into a series of material archetypes that we require in this moment. Our selections cover material systems, material abilities and material processes. The materials, their makers and how they are made aim to provoke, to elucidate and to share. They reflect alternative economies of care, protection, survival, peace, instigation and preservation.

Oslo Architecture Triennale opens on 24th September 2019 and runs for a month. Read more here.
